Why Macro Express®?

If you were to ask several different people the definition of a macro, you would get several different answers and inevitably, one of those answers would be aquatic in nature. Except for that one, they would all be correct. Everybody has their own concept of what a macro is, and what it is not.

The basic definition of a macro is that it is a set of recorded keystrokes that can be played back to perform a specific task, which is all they truly used to be. Even today, many people still use macros in just this same manner. Indeed, almost every macro engine on the market today contains a built in keystroke recorder and player. If that is all you are looking for, if that is all the requirements you have, then there are plenty of free ones on the Internet. Type "Free macro software" into any search engine, then begin wading.

Today's macro engines can be, and are, much, much more. In fact, they are true automation tools independent of any one particular application and containing hundreds of commands, or command scripts, that can be used in as many different ways. Some even have meta-macros that build macro scripts for you on demand, which means you do not need to know anything about programming or script writing.

When we first started developing automation macros for our clients we would switch between different macro engines. One would have better features for handling a certain kind of task, while another would shine in a whole different area. The decision as to which to use for a particular project was always which one would handle most of what we needed to do. However, the time required to support different macro engines for different projects soon became untenable … and that is putting it kindly.

The search was on for a solution and eventually we found, tested, and began using a macro automation engine from Insight Software Solutions called Macro Express. The rest is history. It had all the features we needed under one roof to handle every aspect of any project we ever worked on. And it remains as the only macro engine we use. It is simply that good.
